Do you eat two portions of fish a week?

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Well you should be doing - according to the Food Standards Agency.

They state that…

We should be eating at least two portions of fish a week including one of oily fish. Fish and shellfish are good sources of a variety of vitamins and minerals, and oily fish is particularly rich in omega 3 fatty acids.

There are loads of health benefits linked to eating fish - it can improve the health of your heart, brain, muscles, bones, joints, eyes - and even spice up your love life! So, it really is a super food!

The FSA also says that “… if we want to make sure there are enough fish to eat now, and in the future, we need to start thinking about the choices we make when we choose which fish we eat.

Here at Fish Fanatics, we agree whole-heartedly.

And that is why we are constantly looking to source fish from sustainable stocks wherever possible, and actively encourage our customers to think carefully about their fish has come from. In every case we aim to supply products which, when caught wild, are not contributing to the growing crisis currently threatening the fshing industry.

Organically farmed fish is becoming increasingly more popular and, when fished without effecting the environment, is a viable alternative to wild fish.
