Natural Smoked Haddock : low calorie, healthy - and very tasty!

A new year often means resolutions and good intentions for a healthier diet and lifestyle. So it has never been a better time to introduce more fish into your weekly diet. The Food Standards Agency recommends at least two portions a week in order to benefit from this great source of vitamins, minerals and omega 3 fatty acids.

It is also well known that fish is very good as part of a calorie controlled weight loss diet. For example, here is a selection of fish and their calories count.

Andrew filleting a Sea Bream

Andrew filleting a Sea Bream

That’s not easy to say!

But that’s exactly what our MD Andrew Franks was when on holiday recently. You can see him here looking very professional as he handles this Sea Bream (or Dorade as it’s otherwise known) before turning it into a delicious meal - Sea Bream with Herb Oil.

Sea bream, known as Dorade on the continent is similar to Sea Bass and a great tasting fillet. You know that tasty fish you had on holiday in the Med? Chances are it was Dorade. We sell it as a whole fish and also ready filleted for your convenience. Add it to your next Fish Fanatics order - we think you’ll love it!

Ingredients

Method

  • Cook fish
  • Add sauce
  • Sorted!

It couldn’t be easier. And it couldn’t be more tasty. We have eight different varieties:

Our scrumptious sauce range

Our scrumptious sauce range

  • Pineapple & Red Chili Sauce A mouth-watering taste of fruity ripe pineapples, count to 5 and the chili kicks in! They are great with Fish Cakes and Tiger Prawns.
  • Coconut, Lime & Ginger Sauce The sweetness of the coconut, tamed with lime and the contrast of ginger can create a Thai style dish in minutes.
  • Wasabi & Green Pepper Sauce A fresh, clean, crisp taste, without the heat, followed by the sweetness of green peppers. Try with fish such as cod, monkfish and salmon. Great mixed with mayonnaise or crème fraiche in a dip.
  • New York Style Sauce Full flavoured and great with Tuna and Swordfish. We also like with fresh grilled sardines on the BBQ.
  • Roasted Red Pepper Sauce A rounded pepper taste with a hint of chives. Great poured over pasta with white fish.
  • Lemon & Dill Sauce Sharp and tangy – A natural with most fish, particularly white fish, prawns and salmon. Also great with chicken.
  • Cajun Mango Sauce Slightly spicy and great with white fish. Wonderful as a dip with creme fraiche or yoghurt.
  • Sweet Chili Sauce Try for dipping prawns, with a tuna steak or even as an alternative to tomato sauce with fish and chips!

All the savoury sauces are gluten free, dairy free and suitable for vegans and vegetarians with the exception of the New York style sauce which contains anchovies.
